Who Are We?

We're a group of sisters, husbands and friends that love making cool stuff -- so we started a publishing company and set sail on the adventure of our lives. Our unofficial motto is "the more fantastic the dream, the better".

Natasha and Louisa are sisters that grew up sharing a room and their dreams on an organic farm in New Zealand. Louisa eventually married her high school sweetheart, Shane, and Natasha married Steve after he spent a year in New Zealand writing. It turns out that between the four of us, we have every skill necessary to make a book -- except the ability to spell, but that's what friends are for.

It has been amazing to be part of a successful family business where we all have the space to show our gifts to the world. We try to live our lives full of wonder, joy and creativity in a way that can change as many lifes as possible in a positive way.

Louisa

As long as I can remember I've always been a dreamer. I like to make the most out of life. I believe that if you work hard enough and want it badly enough, then you will achieve it. Since I was extremely young, I've always loved art. It's where I have found happiness, joy, and purpose. When I illustrate I feel like there is no better place in the world. There's nothing like turning a blank page into a picture that the world's never seen before. I find it so rewarding to hear a child giggle or gasp with excitement while looking at one of our books.

I love how people can escape into books and become part of another world for a while. I also think this is really important. This is what I was put on this earth to do and I know I can bring so much joy and happiness to others by following this path.

Creative Voyagers has taken me on the most amazing journey this year. What could be better than working with my darling husband, who I love more than the world, and my awesome little sister, who is part of my heart and my other best friend... and not to forget my brother-in-law, who is wonderfully kind and a brilliant writer. So I guess if I'm to describe myself, I'm a busy, fun mum who loves her darling three children and her husband, a very happy wife, a best friend, an illustrator and most importantly a dreamer who will always believe that anything is possible.

Even though I’m 32, my husband and I still read each other children’s bedtime stories, we always have. I think this childlike nature sums me up a lot. I really respect children and there ability to imagine and see simple solutions to the most complex of situations and I think we as adults can learn a lot from them. So I am very excited to now be part of a team that is providing the world with the kind of stories I love to read, ones filled to the brim with heart and ones that encourage us to let our most wildest imagination out to stomp around the forest of our mind.

I love to travel, and so it is wonderful that I now spend my life in two worlds, in Denver with my husband and in Wellington with my family. My husband and I are very passionate about organic food and love nothing more than trying out new recipes and I am always on the hunt for new ideas, whether they are for my latest musical or for any future Creative Voyagers projects.

Creative Voyagers has been the team I have always been searching for, a team that is 100% supportive, a team that is wildly passionate about what they do and a team that will always encourage it’s members to dream bigger. I am so grateful to be part of it and have no doubt that we will make the world a better place.

I often think of how funny it is that somewhat random hobbies and talents can collide perfectly, into forming the ideal team to publish and write children's books. My love for product development, Louisa's creative spirit, Steve's awesome analytical mind and Tasha's sense of purpose, all mishmash together with one common goal. That goal is to make children laugh, think and grow.

I have always loved paper. As a child I remember making it, from old newspaper, grass or what ever seemed sensible at the time, and then forming these into origami, 3D shapes and small books, bound together with needle and thread. Now days, using my technical talent, I find there's nothing better than creating a concept into reality, and seeing how paper, can bring the intangible to life.

I am a dreamer, and I truly believe that with effort, desire, passion -and a bit of kiwi ingenuity, anything is possible.

Steve

I have always loved writing and grew up making newsletters for my relatives. But as I got older, work and "serious things" got in the way until I decided to quit my job, put all my belongings into storage and move to New Zealand with not much more than a passport.

I spent that year writing in the Wellington and falling in love with my wife Natasha (who helped me see the excitement and joy everywhere in the world). After we got married, I got to know my wife's family by starting a company and making books with them.

I work full time doing serious, important things with computers and during the nights I watch the sunset over the mountains and squeeze in as much time writing as I can. My wife and I had to give up TV to make that possible.

I am happiest when I'm being creative, exploring new ideas or dreaming about what is possible. I have performed improv comedy, and write everything from movie scripts to children's books. I can also paint about as well as an 8 year old. I enjoy cooking, exploring the mountains, playing games, and dark chocolates.
